Open to all members, the Future Leaders Committee is proud to present this educational session entitled How to Develop Psychological Safety in Our Teams & Why it Matters.
This session will be led by Dr. Catherine Lavers from Adroit Solutions based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Registration is $70. Limited spaces are available so register ASAP.
Session Description:
The relationship between Individual and Team Psychological Safety and team success is well established. Higher levels of Psychological Safety give rise to increased levels of adaptability, resilience, accountability, and efficiency; whilst lowering workplace accidents, staff turnover and incidences of stress leave. High levels of psychological safety are especially important in organizations where human factors in safety critical environments are a consideration. The key is creating an environment where everyone has the confidence and investment to have a voice, and for that voice to be heard and respected.
In this session, an examination of the factors that create a Psychologically Safe Organizational Culture will be explored, and the symptoms of low Psychological Safety understood. Ways to increase and maintain Psychological Safety will be strategized. Attendees will have the opportunity to create action plans specific to their teams, across the dimensions of:
- Setting the stage for Psychological Safety (learning culture)
- Inviting Participation (are people effectively using their voice?)
- Productive Response (how to respond to feedback)
Additionally, case studies will be examined and discussed. Linkages will be drawn between the creation of a ‘Coaching approach to leadership’, and Psychological Safety.
