Unlocking Value from the Work You’re Already Doing
PART TWO: 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
This year’s Professional Development Workshop is “Developing Relationships with First Nations Towards Successful Project Development” presented by Tom Mann. A conversation about best practices, and lessons learned for clearing a pathway towards better relationship building, engagement and consultation with First Nation communities. Tom will share stories and experiences of successful ways to advance your knowledge, capacity, and practice. There will also be a Q&A portion of the presentation opening the floor up to the tough questions you may be uneasy or afraid to ask.
Over the last forty years Tom has worked across the country, with executives and politicians, Indigenous leaders and their organizations, civil servants and trade unionists. With the understanding that collaboration is within reach for individuals and parties open to cooperation towards problem solving and successful projects-big or small.
Trained as a lawyer, his career focus has always been solving problems through good faith negotiations, mediation, relationship facilitation and collaborative leadership. His view is that complex matters are not simply problems to be solved by experts but situations to be worked through by rights holders and stakeholders, strategically, tactically, and operationally.
